Part of the closing weekend of the Great Exhibition of the North, Great North Star celebrates the centenary of women’s suffrage.

This outdoor performance will feature a volunteer cast of 100 alongside female sporting legends Paula Radcliffe, Tanni Grey-Thompson and Kathrine Switzer and actors Charlie Hardwick and Julie Hesmondhalgh.

The performance will feature elements of music, narration, mass choreography and video projection.

Great North Star has been designed for broadcast on the BBC as part of the coverage of the Great North CityGames and the Great North Run’s weekend coverage and will be broadcast on BBC One on Saturday 8 September at 3:15pm. Join the cast of Great North Star

Join a cast of 100 women and 25 men and be part of the spectacular finale to the Great Exhibition of the North.

This fantastic performance will pay tribute to the brave, determined and inspiring women who fought for the vote and helped shape all our futures. Without them, I and my fellow women MPs would not be able to do the jobs we do today.

This is a great opportunity for women across the North East to commemorate the centenary of women’s suffrage by volunteering to be part of the Great Exhibition of the North.
