This vibrant and tender dance theatre production celebrates the endless possibilities of Black masculinity. 

Celebrating the endless possibilities of Black masculinity, this dance theatre performance features fluid movement and poignant poetry to reveal snapshots of joy, struggle, love and loss. With rhythmic beats and soulful expressions, striking images of brotherhood and the richness of community, are layered with moments of up-close personal storytelling to create a moving testimony to collective history and identity.  

Fragments of Us is co-commissioned by Talawa and GDIF. Supported by The Royal Borough of Greenwich, Royal Greenwich Festivals and Arts Council England

About The Artists

 

Talawa 

Talawa is the UK’s outstanding Black British Theatre Company. Our purpose is to champion Black Excellence in theatre; to nurture talent in emerging and established artists of African or Caribbean heritage and to tell inspirational and passionate stories, reflecting Black experiences through art.

 

Fubunation

FUBUNATION is a London based organisation founded in 2017 by Rhys Dennis and Waddah Sinada with the vision of adding to black culture by creating more visibility and representation for dancers of colour in contemporary dance. Their objective is to build more diversity in the audiences that come to theatres and other dance platforms.

 

Sonia Hughes

Sonia Hughes is an artist, writer, performer. She has made a number of shows with contemporary theatre-makers Quarantine including their award-winning Susan & Darren, the epic Summer. Autumn. Winter. Spring. and Wallflower. She currently works alongside Jo Fong on their multi-faceted conversation project Neither Here Nor There.

She wrote the award-winning What is the City, but the People? lead by Jeremy Deller for Manchester International Festival. She is Associate Artist at Festspillene i Nord-Norge/Arctic Arts Festival. Her new project, I am from Reykjavik, exploring race and belonging was part of Take Over 2022.

Free to attend. Just show up.

This show is relaxed. This means you can come and go as you please, move around and make noise.

Level Access

There are level access routes at General Gordon and Beresford Square.

There will be short ramps onto raised areas.

There will be a mix of hard and soft standing.

Access Viewing Area

A staffed access viewing area for disabled audience members will be marked with a sign or flag. Space for wheelchair users, companions and seating with and without arms will be available.

The viewing area will have volunteers and staff available throughout the event.

Accessible Toilets

Beresford Square accessible public toilets will be open

Local businesses in the town centre have accessible toilets, some require a radar key
